Azerbaijan is participating for the first time in the "GITF 2024" (Guangzhou International Tourism Fair), held in Guangzhou, China, from May 16-18, 2024.

The country is represented by the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) alongside Azerbaijan Airlines, Shahdag Mountain Resort, and the Reserves Management Center, with a total of six local partners showcasing Azerbaijan’s diverse tourism offerings.

On the first day of the exhibition, the ATB’s representation in China conducted a destination presentation, providing an in-depth overview of Azerbaijan’s tourism potential. Visitors to the Azerbaijan stand are introduced to the country’s history, key tourist attractions, national cuisine, winemaking traditions, UNESCO-listed cultural heritage sites, and business tourism opportunities. They also have the chance to sample traditional Azerbaijani sweets as part of the promotional activities.

Throughout the event, meetings with representatives from China’s tourism industry, as well as interviews with media professionals, are being conducted to strengthen international tourism partnerships.

On May 16, 2024, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board won first place in the "Potential Tourism Destination" category at the "Chinese Tourist Welcome Award 2024", organized by the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute.

It is noteworthy that in 2023, the number of Chinese visitors to Azerbaijan increased more than sixfold compared to 2022.
